Job Roles at VHL Heating

We are currently looking for technicians, plumbers and electricians who have the correct qualifications, a minimum of eight years' experience, good references and excellent communication skills.
Key Requirements
We expect you to work with the minimum of supervision and have a clear focus on customer satisfaction. You must have a can do attitude and take ownership of your job. You must be able to deliver results getting the job done right first time, taking pride in your job and being a team player. You must be available to go on an emergency call out rota.
Heating Gas Technician:
- CCN
- CENWAT
- CKRI
- HTR
- CPA
- Part P electrical cert or equivalent
- Must have completed a four year apprenticeship and held the position of supervisor or lead engineer for a minimum of one year
Plumber:
- NVQ in plumbing or
- City and Guilds certificate in basic plumbing level /
- City and Guilds certificate in domestic plumbing
- City and Guilds certificate in hot water and gas
- BPEC unvented hot water systems
- BPEC / WRAS water regulations
- Must have completed a minimum four year apprenticeship.
Electrician:
- City and Guilds th Edition wiring regulations or equivalent
- City and Guilds Pat testing.
- Part P full scope or equivalent or equivalent city and Guilds certificates.
- City and Guilds Periodic inspection, testing and certification.
- Must have completed a minimum four year apprenticeship.
Recruitment Process:
The recruitment process
VHL have a rigorous employment process, this consists of a three stage assessment protocol.
Stage 1) After your initial enquiry you will be sent a Pre Employment Questionnaire, this form sets out our minimum requirements which are,
Technical Qualification requirements.*
Full Driving Licence, both paper and photo card.*
Proof of eight years experience in your trade, *
Two good references’
A CV listing all the companies you have worked for.
(Note), we require full details of driving licence, Minimal qualifications listed above, a minimum of eight years registration with Gas Safe, or the appropriate NVQ qualification.
Stage 2) If your application is successful you will be invited to attend an interview, you will be required to bring with you all your trade relevant qualifications certificates, proof of address in the form of utility bills and your driving licence card and counterpart. The interview process will evidence your qualifications and experience previously submitted at stage one. You will also be asked to complete a medical questionnaire and details will be taken to enable us to carry out pre-employment checks; these will include a criminal record check.
Stage 3) Stage three will consist of a written technical examination and a practical test carried out at our Partner Technical college test centre (Gas Logic) and will take approximately six hours.

VHL has a dedicated supply chain manager, who deals directly with all of our subcontractors and ensures that our clients and customers needs and objectives are met.
When selecting sub-contractors they are required to comply with the following:
- Adequate insurance cover
- Formal trade registrations
- Formal technical qualifications.
- Equal opportunities statement
- Health and Safety statement
- Quality Management systems
- The same ethos to customer service as ourselves
Our supply chain
Our approach generally is not to use sub-contractors but to directly recruit sufficient resources hopefully from the local community where possible to deliver contracts successfully. However our main priority is to provide excellent customer service and we therefore have an established supply chain made up of specialist companies and labour only sub-contractors. Our sub contractors cover a wide range of disciplines including electrical work, general builders and roofing companies.
All subcontractors go through the same rigorous engagement process as our directly employed personnel. If successful you will be expected to attend our company induction process. All sub-contractors will be subject to our formal supervision in the same way VHL staff are.
Our established supply chain relationships with merchants afford us the benefits of competitive purchasing power and exceptional after sales service. We pay our subcontractors on satisfactory completion of work after sign off. We operate a prompt payment policy to ensure good reciprocal performance.
We expect all stakeholders in VHL’s established supply chain to be committed to continuous improvement and innovation, managing cost time and quality and a collaborative management ethos. In return we will guarantee you continuity of work, from a few days per week to our bigger projects that last months.
