Boiler Warranty – What’s Covered

Boilers work very hard all year round, keeping our homes warm and providing us with hot water so we can enjoy hot showers, meals and cups of tea. However, like any machinery, boilers do not have an infinite lifespan and they can suffer faults or failures from time to time. While a lot of boilers will be covered under warranty, it can be confusing as to what problems/issues are actually protected by your agreement.

Manufacturer Specific

Different manufacturers have different policies regarding the warranty and guarantees of their equipment, and this article will look at the key points of their respective protection agreements.

Guarantee periods often vary depending on the manufacturer of the boiler and the model of system that you have opted for. In many cases, you may have to fill out your guarantee form to find out how long your boiler is protected for.

Worcester Bosch

Worcester Bosch manufactured products are guaranteed against faults of either a manufacturing or material nature for the duration of their guarantee period. However, in order for your boiler to be covered, it must be registered at www.worcester-bosch.co.uk no more than 30 days after the installation. The installation itself must be carried out correctly and in accordance with the installation instructions.

Vaillant

Vaillant’s boiler warranty covers all major components against manufacturing defects for five years from the date the boiler is registered.

In order to qualify your Vaillant boiler for a guarantee, you must register it online at www.vaillant.co.uk. The length of the guarantee can depend on the type of boiler you have and the environment it is installed in (i.e. commercial or domestic).

Viessmann

For homeowners, registering your boiler for warranty is as simple as filling out a form on the Viessmann website at www.viessmann.co.uk.

Viessmann trained installers can use the Viessmann Installer Portal which allows them to obtain Viessmann and Gas Safe warranty very easily.

As an example, Viessmann offer a five year warranty as standard against their Vitodens 100-W boiler, as well as a 10 year warranty for their Inox-Radial heat exchanger.

Bear This In Mind

It is important that all installations are carried out by a professional, accredited installer. Rogue traders can charge much more than is necessary for their work, and their work may not be up to the professional standard. Not only does this cost you more money, but it also can be very dangerous if the boiler is not installed correctly. Ensure that you have secured the services of a fully accredited professional – ask to see proof of credentials and get a quote before they start their work.

Some companies, such as VHL, offer extended warranty for boilers manufactured by Worcester Bosch, Vaillant, Viessmann, Baxi and Potterton amongst others. This can be an ideal way to give yourself peace of mind about the condition and longevity of your boiler.

If you would like to know more about VHL’s boiler services, or anything else that we do, please feel free to get in touch with us today and we will be more than happy to help you with anything you need.
